Gas Tank Installation

There are several references for gas tank installation.  "How to Restore Your Model A", Vol. 2 series has one and in "Model A Ford Mechanics Handbook" by  Les Andrews book there is another with a little more detail.  Make sure you're reading information about your year.

Alan started by fitting the bead material to the gas tank. It goes along the edges and across the back in one continuos piece.

Cutting slits in the material makes it easy to bend around the corners.

Notice the belt rail has been installed to trap the bead along the back and cloth strips have been stapled along the edges to help pull the bead tight.  The tank is now ready to be dropped in.

The fire wall screws are in and Al is installing the dash rail bolts.  These are a little tricky and a magnet or a piece of wire may be needed to drop the bolts in.

It's done!  The cowl band finishes the job.

Next time, we'll try to install the hood.
